Get Involved
OpenSpace is built by a global community of researchers, educators, and developers. Whether you’re filing a bug, proposing a feature, or ready to write code — here’s how to get involved.
Ways to Contribute
There are many ways to get involved with OpenSpace, and no contribution is too small. Whether you have five minutes or five months, here’s how you can help shape the project.
Join the Community on Slack
The OpenSpace Slack is the most active place to connect with users, educators, and core developers. Ask questions, share what you’ve built, report problems, or just follow along with what the community is working on. It’s the fastest way to get a response from the team and a great place to start if you’re new.
Report Bugs or Request Features on GitHub
OpenSpace is developed in the open on GitHub. If you’ve found a bug, opening an issue there is the best way to make sure it gets tracked and addressed. Feature requests and technical discussions live there too — the GitHub issue tracker is where ideas go from conversations to roadmap items.
Tell Us About Your Presentations and Installations
Are you using OpenSpace in a planetarium show, a classroom, a museum exhibit, or a public lecture? We’d love to hear about it. Knowing where and how OpenSpace is being used helps us prioritize features, report impact to our funders, and connect you with others doing similar work. Reach out via email at support@openspaceproject.com or share in the #showcase channel on Slack.
Contribute Code
If you’re a developer, the OpenSpace GitHub repository is the place to start. Check the contributing guidelines, browse open issues tagged good first issue, and join the #compiling and #breaking-changes channels on Slack for technical discussion with the core team.
Ready to join?
The OpenSpace community is open to everyone — users, educators, scientists, and developers at any experience level.
